More Crass Commercialism: Milton Bradley's Heroquest (Ending Soon!)

I discovered Heroquest shortly after it came out, and let me just say: I loved the Hell out of this game! I look back fondly at the late nights (early mornings?) spent playing marathon games of HQ, throwing character after character into the meat grinder in repeated desperate attempts to just make it to the next quest. Ah, those were the days...

The game was later replaced by Advanced Heroquest, and - ultimately - Warhammer Quest. Having played (and loved) WHQ, it's hard to appreciate its forefather as much as I once did, but Heroquest will always hold a spot in my heart.

Anyway, the car that's been plaguing my finances for the last few months finally bought the farm, costing me yet more money from my budget - money I don't have. In a desperate attempt to offset this blow to my bank account, I've put my virtually unused back-up copy of the game up for auction, including the expansions I own and all of the HQ minis I could dig up. (See the pic below.) Please have a look - and, as always, thanks for your support.

Edit: I've added more item to my eBay listings, including a 2nd edition-era Warhammer 40K Eldar army, the 2nd edition Kult rule book, "Beyond the Mountains of Madness", and more.

2/3/2011: I've just added the Runequest 3rd Edition Deluxe rulebook to my listings.
. . . . .

Car trouble is the worst. I live in the country so not having a car is just not an option. And, of course when the car's not working it makes my life pretty miserable.

Heroquest is a great little game. I already have a copy, so I can't really justify buying another one (even if I kind of want to), but I highly recommend it to anyone. I'm sure it will find a good home.

I loved hero quest. That's the very first system that got me into the world of role playing.

I really like HQ, but I can't stand WHQ. With WHQ, at least without a GM, it came across as nothing more than just rolling a bunch of dice.

I've been there, but I think selling game stuff because of a temporary economic crunch is unwise. You'll almost certainly buy the stuff back later, but at an increased price. Plus, your game stuff that you find so precious probably isn't worth that much money anyway, and you're not likely to get what it's worth.

I'd recommend selling stuff from your wife's side of the closet or something. ;^)

Believe me, Bree Yark, I understand all too well the advantages and disadvantages of selling this stuff. The fact of the matter is: my gaming materials are the only assets I have the capacity to liquidate, and I need the money (badly). The question becomes elementary at that point: What's more important: keeping game stuff I've been carting around for decades or paying the rent? Sure, I may end up buying back some of this stuff at a later date (for more than I sold it), but at least I'll have a home to keep it in.

As far as WHQ is concerned, I just see it as a fun way to kill time (and monsters :D). To me, it's just HQ with more options. (And the folks I generally game with usually make it an enjoyable excursion, throwing in a bit of role playing.)

Hero Quest is the best, just wish I had time and someone to play and I would be happy to take it off your hands.
